He is a keen researcher and has received Govt. Of India patent for his invention in dentistry.

He has been in the teaching profession since the last 5 years and is the founder president of Indian Society Of Orthodontics For General Practitioners (ISOGP), the only organization in India representing general practitioners with orthodontic practice.

He is also conducting a short term and long term (including online) Certificate Course in Fixed Orthodontics for the general dentist based on the Realistic Treatment Philosophy (RTP) developed by him. This treatment method includes Straight Wire, Begg's, Self-Ligating Bracket and Tip-Edge techniques to deliver shortened treatment time as opposed to traditional orthodontic treatments.He is also practicing and teaching Lingual (Invisible) orthodontics. Dr.Ravi Kumar is also involved in developing a frictionless Ligation system for orthodontic brackets (Patent Pending).
