He is a keen researcher and has received Govt. Of India patent for his invention in dentistry.

He has been in the teaching profession since the last 5 years and is the founder president of Indian Society Of Orthodontics For General Practitioners (ISOGP), the only organization in India representing general practitioners with orthodontic practice.

He is also conducting a Certificate Course in Fixed Orthodontics for the general dentist based on the Realistic Treatment Philosophy (RTP) developed by him. This treatment method includes Straight Wire, Begg's, Self-Ligating Bracket and Tip-Edge techniques to deliver shortened treatment time as opposed to traditional orthodontic treatments.He is also practicing and teaching Lingual (Invisible) orthodontics. Dr.Ravi Kumar is also involved in developing a frictionless Ligation system for orthodontic brackets (Patent Pending).
